Wine columnist LettieTeague, writing in the Wall Street Journal, has lots of nice things to say about recent Chianti vintages and wines. In the Boston Globe, wine writer Stephen Meuse offers a very eclectic selection of red wines for grilled foods. And in Wine Review Online, wine blogger Ed McCarthy takes a very in-depth look at the wines of Barolo over many vintages. JG

Praise for the 2006 and 2007 vintages, and offerings from Fontodi, Fattoriadi Felsina, Castello di Fonterutoli, Castellodi Ama, and Fattoria Selvapiana. Recommended are Concha y Toro Casillero del Diabolo Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, Castillo de Monseran Carnacha 2008, Red Guitar Old Vine Tempranillo Garnacha 2008, Las Rocas Garnacha 2007, and Blackstone Merlot 2007.
