Lots of kosher wines recommended for Passover this week, and none get more attention and praise than the offerings of Galil Mountain, recommended in the New York Times and elsewhere. The San Francisco Chronicle tasting panel has many nice things to say for an ecclectic group of German Riesling wines. And Laurie Daniel, writing in the San Jose Mercury News, offers a very comprehensive review of the best Sauvignon Blanc wines from New Zealand winemakers.  John Gillespie

Dallas Morning News: Wine columnist Rebecca Murphy picks Trapiche Broquel Bonarda 2004.

New York Times: Wine columnist Eric Asimov on Israeli wines. Judged best in tasting is Galil Mountain Yiron 2003, while Barkan Classic Chardonnay 2006 is cited for value.

Wall Street Journal: Wine columnists Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher on wine choices for a dinner honoring the Pope. Selections are mostly from Bastianich.

Business Week: Wine critic Robert Parker on red wines from Australia. Highest rated is Kaesler Shiraz 'Old Bastard' Shiraz.

Bloomberg News Service: Wine columnist Elin McCoy on the pleasures of a visit to Beaune. Nice comments for Domaine des Forges Clos sous le Chateau St. Romain 2005, and Compte Armand Auxey Duresses 2005.

Newsday: Staff writer Peter Gianotti recommends kosher wines. The chosen are Goose Bay Chardonnay 2006, Herzog Special Reserve Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005, Binyamina Yogev Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2005, Psagot Judean Hills Merlot 2004, Galil Mountain Yiron 2004, Yarden Odem Organic Vineyard Chardonnay 2005, and Herzog Late Harvest Clarksburg Chenin Blanc 2005.

New York Sun: Wine columnist Peter Hellman on kosher wines. Nice mentions for offerings from Yarden, Psagot, Yatir, Domaine du Castel, and Carmel.

USA Today: Wine columnist Jerry Shriver recommends Salentin Reserve Pinot Noir 2003, Zaca Mesa Z Cuvee 2005, Kunde Estate Chardonnay 2006, Merryvale Starmont Chardonnay 2006, and MacRostie Chardonnay 2006.

San Jose Mercury News: Wine columnist Laurie Daniel on Sauvignon Blanc wines from New Zealand. Washington Post: Wine writers Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg on unusual offerings from a number of wineries including Beringer, Bernardus, Blackstone, Cline, Domaine Chandon, Konstantin Frank, Iron Horse, Kendall-Jackson, Morgan, Penfolds, and Shafer. Karen's choice this week is Georges Duboeuf Pouilly-Fuisse 2005 (and 2006), while Andrew prefers Jordan Russian River Chardonnay 2005 (and 2006).

Houston Chronicle: Wine columnist Dale Robertson on his wine rating system and monthly tasting. Top rated wine is Tommasi Le Rosse Pinot Grigio 2006.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Wine writer Gil Kulers on Malbec wines. Highest praise is for Viu Manent 'Secreto' Malbec.

Arizona Republic: Wine columnist Mark Tarbell offers tasting notes on Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Grigios. Top rated is Indaba Sauvignon Blanc 2007.

Minneapolis Star Tribune: Wine writer Bill Ward on styles of Chardonnay. Featured is Babcock Santa Rita Hills 'Rita's Earth Cuvee' Chardonnay 2006.
