Rose wines continue to dominate summer wine columns, with Patrick Comiskey reporting in the Los Angeles Times that they are now the darlings of LA sommeliers. Many rose wines are also recommended by Bob Hosmon, in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. And Laurie Daniel, writing in the San Jose Mercury News, sees a backlash finally developing against the trend toward high alcohol in California wines. John Gillespie

USA Today: Wine columnist Jerry Shriver recommends Twisted 'New Wine' Chardonnay 2005, Castello Banfi Chianti Classico 2005, and Bonny Doon Le Cigare Blanc.

Newark Star-Ledger: Wine writer T. J. Foderaro on Principe di Corleone wines from Sicily.

Philadelphia Inquirer: Staff writer Craig LaBan on the wines of Montes in Chile. Recommended is Montes Cherub rose.

San Francisco Chronicle: Staff writers Jon Bonne and Olivia Wu on pairing wine with Thai food. Recommendations of varietals, not brands. On another page, recommendations for wines from Susana Balbo, Reinhold Haart, Marc Kreydenweiss, Lolonis, Navarro, Pfeffingen Ungsteiner, Andreas Schmitges, Seebrich, Georg Albrechet Schneider, Oddero, and Pellegrini.
