Lots of recommendations for wines from Spain this week, with Eric Asimov in the New York Times and John Foy in the Newark Star-Ledger praising the wines of Rioja, while Frank Sutherland, in the Nashville Tennessean, finds quality and value in the Spanish white wines, and Jon Bonne of the San Francisco Chronicle raves about Txakoli. Columnist Bob Hosman, writing in the South Flordia Sun-Sentinel, sees value and quality in wines from Argentina. And wine blogger Frederic Koeppel finds Australian Shiraz wines to both love and loathe. JG

Newsday: Staff writer Peter Gianotti recommends white wines for summer enjoyment. The chosen include Sauvignon Blancs from St. Clement, Oberon, and Kendall-Jackson, as well as Pinot Grigio wines from Castello di Gabbiano, Angelini, and Livio Felluga. Other Italian wines recommended are from Donnafugata, Biagio, and Robert Skalli. From Germany, the choice is from Prinz von Hessen, and from Austria, the nod goes to Laurenz und Sophie 'Singing' Gruner Veltliner. (Link)
