Wall Street Journal: Wine columnists Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher on unusual wines from California. Nice comments for Saxon Brown Semillon 2006, Marilyn Remark Wines Grenache 2005, Trou de Bonde Pinot Blanc 2006, Kupp Brothers Estates Black Bart Marsanne 2005, and Chateau Julien Private Reserve Merlot 2002.

Business Week: Wine critic Robert Parker on white wines from Bordeaux. Highest rated is Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte 2005.

Bloomberg News Service: Wine columnist Elin McCoy on the revival of the town of Napa. Along the way, nice comments for D-Cubed Brown Vineyards Zinfandel 2005, and Robert Sinskey Pinot Blanc.

Newsday: Staff writer Peter Gianotti recommends Pinot Grigio and Pinot Gris wines from numerous producers, including Santa Margherita, Livio Felluga, Masi, Ca' Bolani, Altanuta, Sartori, Etude, Swanson Vineyards, Pietra Santa, Sterling, and White Truck. Also, nice comments on Wolffer Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2005.

USA Today: Wine columnist Jerry Shriver recommends Franciscan Sauvignon Blanc 2007, and Layer Cake Cotes du Rhone 2006.

The Chronicle tasting panel reviews Pinot Noir wines from the Northern Central Coast. Highest ratings go to Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard 'Branciforte Creek Vineyard' Pinot Noir 2006, and Miner 'Gary's Vineyard' Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2006.

Sacramento Bee: Wine columnist Mike Dunne on the results of the Long Beach Grand Cru wine competition. Top red wine reported to be Mettler Family Vineyards Lodi Petite Sirah 2005. White wine honors went to two unlikely winners - Wollersheim Winery American Prairie Fume Seyval Blanc 2007, and Goose Watch Winery Finger Lakes 'Diamond.'

Washington Post: Wine writers Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg on white wines for every mood. Nice mentions for Souverain Alexander Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2007, Murphy Goode 'The Fume' 2007, Ponzi Willamette Valley Arneis 2007, Livio Felluga Terre Alte 2006, and Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio 2007. Karen's top choice is Vietti Roero Arneis 2006 (and 2007), while Andrew favors A by Acacia Chardonnay 2006.

Houston Chronicle: Wine columnist Dale Robertson on Albarino wines from Spain. Focus is on Jose Tourino from Adegas d'Altamira, with nice comments of several of their wines. Also, local wine expert recommends Laetitia Estate Pinot Noir 2006.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Wine writer Gil Kulers on wines from Washington State. Lots of nice comments, but highest praise goes to Chateau Ste. Michelle Ethos Cabernet Sauvignon 2004.

Arizona Republic: Wine columnist Mark Tarbell offers tasting notes on wines for summer enjoyment. Highest rated is Robert Sinskey Vineyards 'Abraxas' 2006.

Minneapolis Star Tribune: Wine writer Bill Ward takes note of a new book on wineries in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Nice comments, though, for a French entry - Commanderie de la Bargemone Coteaux d'Aix en Provence 2007.

Rocky Mountain News: Wine columnist Ben Weinberg on sparkling wines and cigars. Wines recommended are Mumm Napa Brut NV, Segura Viudas Brut Aria NV, Louis Bouilliot Blanc de Noir NV, Perrier Jouet Grand Brut NV, Domaine Chandon Brut Rose NV, Roederer Estate Anderson Valley Brut Rose NV, Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Rose NV, La Spinetta Moscato d'Asti 2007, and Braida Brachetto d'Acqui NV.

The Oregonian : Wine columnist Matt Kramer on values in wines from Europe - despite the weak dollar. Cases in point are Delas Freres Cotes du Ventoux 2006, and Pieropan Soave Classico 2006.
