Lots of notice this week for a new book by Alice Feiring, in which she states her case for 'authentic' wines and gleefully dissects Robert Parker and the wines he praises. In the San Francisco Chronicle, guest columnst Feiring continues her Parker critique and also lauds the wines of Edmunds St. John. And Elin McCoy, writing for the Bloomberg News Service, finds a few gems at a tasting of organic and biodynamic wines.  John Gillespie

Wall Street Journal: Wine columnists Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher on recent experiences in tasting rooms, with advice to wineries and their staffs.

Business Week: Wine critic Robert Parker on Zinfandel wines from the 2005 vintage in California. Highest rating goes to Carlisle Bacchi Ranch 2005.

Bloomberg News Service: Wine columnist Elin McCoy on a tasting of organic and biodynamic wines. Mixed bag of results but nicest comments for wines from Summerhill Pyramid Winery, Yorkville Cellars, and Patianna.

Newsday: Staff writer Peter Gianotti recommends wines from Chateau Minuty, specifically the Cuvee de L'Orataoire 2007, Blanc et Or de Minuty 2006, 'Moments' 2007, and Cuvee Prestige Rouge 2005.

New York Sun: Wine columnist Peter Hellman on wine writer Alice Feiring and her new book - The Battle for Wine And Love.

USA Today: Wine columnist Jerry Shriver recommends Franciscan Sauvignon Blanc 2007, Foppiano Lot 96 Bin 002, Francis Coppola Diamond Collection Claret 2006, and Francis Ford Coppola Presents Rosso 2006.

Boston Globe: Wine columnist Stephen Meuse profiles Napa Valley vintners Michael Havens and Chris Howell. On another page, tasting notes on several of the Havens and Cain Five wines.

Newark Star-Ledger: Wine writer T.J. Foderaro on wine retailer Gary Vaynerchuk and his new book. Gary V is quoted praising wines from Edmunds St. John and Chateau Doisy-Vedrines. Also, a listing of oyster-friendly wines, including Chateau Ste. Michelle Sauvignon Blanc 2006, Covey Run Fume Blanc 2006, Dry Creek Vineyard Fume Blanc 2006, Simi Sauvignon Blanc 2006, and others.

San Francisco Chronicle: The Chronicle tasting panel reviews imported rose wines. Highest rating goes to Loimer Kamptal Rose 2007.

San Francisco Chronicle: Wine writer Alice Feiring on her quest of authentic wines. Edmunds St. John cited as shining example. Along the way, disdain for Robert Parker and his influence over vintners around the globe.

Sacramento Bee: Wine columnist Mike Dunne on wine retailer Gary Vaynerchuk's new book of wine selections.

San Jose Mercury News: Wine columnist Laurie Daniel on new wine finds from New Zealand. Praise for Syrah wines produced in the Hawke's Bay area by Villa Maria, Gimblett, Te Awa, Gunn Estate, and CJ Pask. Also, praise for Riesling wines made in the Waipara region by Waipara Springs, Pegasus Bay, and Muddy Water. Nice comments, too, for Rieslings from other areas made by Villa Maria, Stoneleigh, Kim Crawford, Peregrine, and Felton Road. Finally, a few nice words on Pinot Gris wines from Kim Crawford and Peregrine.

Los Angeles Times: Guest writer Patrick Comiskey on wine book authors Alice Feiring, Neal Rosenthal, and Sergio Esposito. Love of authentic wines is the common thread, and from Feiring numerous barbs are tossed at Robert Parker.

San Diego Union Tribune: Wine columnist Robert Whitley on wine prices. Nice comments along the way for Napa Valley producers Spottswoode, Joseph Phelps, and Shafer. Also, high rating given to Stuhlmuller Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2005.

Washington Post: Wine writers Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg on Cabernet Sauvignon. Nice comments for El Portillo 2006, Chateau Ste. Michelle Canoe Ridge Estate 2005, Murphy-Goode Alexander Valley 2005, Souverain Alexander Valley 2004, Hall Napa Valley 2005, and Antinori Solaia 2001. Karen's pick is Chateau Ste. Michelle Indian Wells 2005, while Andrew favors Trefethen Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2004.

Houston Chronicle: Wine columnist Dale Robertson on the Ghost Pines Vineyard wines from Gallo.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Wine writer Gil Kulers on wines named for Atlanta Braves players, made by Clos La Chance, with profits going to charitable causes.

Arizona Republic: Wine columnist Mark Tarbell offers tasting notes on wines for summer enjoyment. Highest rating goes to Justin 'The Orphan' Red 2006.

Minneapolis Star Tribune: Wine writer Bill Ward on summer wines. Case in point is Le Grand Noir Viognier 2006.

South Florida Sun-Sent inel: Wine writer Bob Hosmon on Riesling wines from Australia. Recommendations for Leasingham Wines Magnus Riesling 2006 (and Bin 7 Riesling 2007), as well as McWilliams Hanwood Estate Riesling 2006, and Rosemount Diamond Label Traminer Riesling 2007.

Miami Herald: Wine columnist Fred Tasker on Bodegas Salentin in Argentina. High praise for the Salentin Reserve Malbec 2005. On another page, Gnarlier Head Old Vine Zinfandel 2006 is noted as a bargain.

Nashville Tennessean: Wine columnist Frank Sutherland on pricey Chardonnay wines. Top choice is Trefethen Chardonnay 2005.

Chicago Tribune: Wine reporter Bill Daley answers questions from readers - no wine reommendations.
