Wall Street Journal: Wine columnists Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher on Albarino wines from Spain. Some mixed opinions, but mostly praise. Top choice is Don Olegario 2005, while Pazo Serantellos 2006 is cited for value.

Business Week: Wine critic Robert Parker on bargain Italian wines. Highest rated is Agricole Vallone Salice Salentino Vereto 2003.

Bloomberg News Service: Wine columnist Elin McCoy on Rosso di Montalcino wines. Recommendations include offerings from Tenuta Col d'Orcia, Castello Banfi, and others.

Boston Globe: Wine columnist Stephen Meuse on wines from Argentina. Recommended are Nieto Snetiner Mendoza Malbec Reserva 2005, Terrazas do los Andes Mendoza Malbec 2006, Trapiche 'Oak Cask' Mendoza Malbec 2006, Bodega Norton 'Lo Tengo' Malbec 2006, and Altos Las Hormigas Mendoza Malbec 2006.

San Francisco Chronicle: The Chronicle tasting panel reviews red Bordeaux wines costing under $50. Highest ratings go to Blasson d'Issan Margaux 2005, and Chateau Beaumont 2005.

San Francisco Chronicle: Wine editor Jon Bonne offers a wide-ranging profile of Napa Valley pioneer Warren Winiarski and the history of Stag's Leap Wine Cellars.

Sacrame nto Bee: Wine columnist Mike Dunne on Riesling and its surging popularity. Also, winning Rieslings from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition are recapped.

San Jose Mercury News: Wine columnist Laurie Daniel on Sauvignon Blanc wines from the Loire. Producers in the Touraine getting a nod are Pierre Plouzeau, Joel Delaunay, and Domaine des Corbilleres. For Sancerre, wines from Hippolyte Reverdy, Paul Prieur, Patient Cottat, Domaine Charrier, Domaine Mathias, Domaine Thomas et Fils, and Bailly-Reverdy are cited. Pouilly Fume wines by Regis Minet, Domaine des Berthiers, and Claude Michot are also recommended, as are wines from other Loire regions offered by Jean-Claude Roux, Domaine du Tremblay, Domaine de Reuilly, and Domaine de Chatenoy.

San Diego Union Tribune: Wine columnist Robert Whitley on winemaker Leon Santoro and his Orfila Vineyards. High praise for his 2005 Sangiovese. Also, a high rating is given to Grgich Hills Fume Blanc 2006.

Washington Post: Wine writers Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg answer reader questions, then suggest wines for spring. Karen's top choice is Hall Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2006, while Andrew goes for Greg Norman Sparkling NV.

Houston Chronicle: Wine columnist Dale Robertson on Robert Parker and wine ratings. Recommendations for Estancia Pinot Grigio 2006, and Markham Merlot 2004.

Dallas Morning News: The tasting panel recommends wines to pair with snapper. Winners are Chateau Montfort Vouvray 2005, Le Rocher des Violettes Demi Sec 2005, Quivira Grenache 2005, Schloss Vollrads 'Trocken' Rheingau Riesling 2005, Beringer Alluvium Blanc 2006, and Domaine de Mourchon Seguret Cotes du Rhone Rose 'Loubie' 2006.

South Florida Sun-Sentinel: Wine writer Bob Hosmon on vintner John Edwards and his Lane Vineyard wines. Recommended are Lane Vineyard Pinot Gris 2006, Lane Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2006, Off the Leash Chardonnay 2006, and Off the Leash Shiraz/Viognier 2005.

Miami Herald: Wine columnist Fred Tasker on value in wines. Highest recommended this week are J. Schram 2000, Sea Smoke Cellars 'Ten' Pinot Noir 2005, Beringer Napa Valley Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2004, and Hommage Chardonnay Mitsuko's Vineyard 2005. On another page, Leasingham 'Magnus' Riesling 2006 is noted as a bargain.

Nashville Tennessean: Wine columnist Frank Sutherland on blended wines. Pick this week is Kitfox Foxy 2005.

Minneapolis Star Tribune: Wine columnist Bill Ward on Italian white wines. Favored is Inama Soave Classico 2006.

Chicago Tribune: Wine reporter Bill Daley on the proposal for ingredient labeling of wines. Nice comments for Bonny Doon Ca' del Solo Muscat 2007, and Albarino 2007.

The Oregonian: Wine columnist Matt Kramer on the Project Genome research of Constellation Brands. Recommendation also for Cycles Gladiator Central Coast Syrah 2006.
