Bloomberg News Service:Wine columnist Elin McCoy recounts the festivities and favorite wines from Vinexpo this year, with nice mentions for wines from Telmo Rodriguez and Nicolas Joly.  Also, high praise for Chateau Canon 1979, Figeac 1964, Mouton-Rothschild 1988, and Chateau d'Issan 2000.  (Link)

Financial Times: Wine columnist Jancis Robinson on the evolution of New Zealand wines.  Nice comments for several emerging white wine varietals, such as Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Viognier.  Also, much promise shown by Syrah wines.  (Link)

Newark Star-Ledger: Wine writer John Foy has nice things to say about Opici 'Zin 91' Zinfandel 2006(Link)

San Francisco Chronicle:The Chronicle tasting panel reviews Zinfandel wines from Napa Valley.  Recommended are The Terraces 2006, Green & Red Vineyard Chiles Canyon Vineyards 2006, Downing Family Vineyards 'Fly by Night' Oakville 2006, Brown Estate 2007, and August Briggs Old Vine 2006(Link)

Sacramento Bee:Wine columnist Chris Macias on winning wines from the California State Fair competition.  Recommended are Lange Twins Winery Sauvignon Blanc 2007, Nevada City Winery Barbera 2007, and Michael David Winery Petite Petit 2007(Link)

Santa Rosa Press Democrat:Wine columnist Dan Berger on wine pricing in restaurants.  (Link)

San Jose Mercury News:Wine columnist Laurie Daniel on bargain white wines from the West CoastSauvignon Blanc wines from Concannon, St. Supery, Long Meadow Ranch, Hannah, Bernardus, Morgan, and Chateau Ste. Michelle are recommended, as are Riesling and Gewuztraminer wines from Blackstone, Ventana Vineyards, Mandolin, Ludwig, and Kenwood.  For Chardonnay, the producers cited are Black Box, Clos du Bois, and CambriaPinot Gris (or Grigio) wines from Blackstone, Gnarly Head, Ventana Vineyards and Morgan are also recommended.  Finally, blended white wines from Kendall-Jackson and Kenwood are praised.  (Link)

Minneapolis Star Tribune:Wine writer Bill Ward on recommended summer reading for wine lovers.  Also, focus on La Vis 'Dipinti' Muller Thurgau 2006.  (Link)

Chicago Tribune:Wine reporter Bill Daley on wines to enjoy with 'beer can' chicken.  Top choices are Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs Brut NV, C. Donatiello Chardonnay 2007, and Trefethen Chardonnay 2007(Link)
