Very thorough piece on Clos du Val winery in Bloomberg News this week by John Mariani, with praise for the restrained and balanced winemaking style. In the San Jose Mercury News, columnist Laurie Daniel reviews many Pinot Noir wines from the Central Otago region of New Zealand, and finds much to like. And the Malbec wines of Argentina are praised for quality and value by Eric Asimov in the New York Times.  John Gillespie

Wall Street Journal: Wine columnists Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher on Arneis wines from Italy. Best in tasting (and best value) is deemed to be Marco Porello 'Camestri' 2007.

Business Week: Wine critic Robert Parker on the wines of Cliff Lede in Napa Valley. Highest rating is for the Cabernet Sauvignon 'Poetry' Stag's Leap 2005.

Bloomberg News Service: Wine columnist John Mariani profiles the Clos du Val winery in Napa Valley. Much praise for the elegant style, with nice comments on several wines, especially the Stag's Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2004.

Newsday: Staff writer Peter Gianotti recommends Chablis wines for summer enjoyment. All the recommended wines are from Drouhin, including the Chablis 2006, Domaine de Vaudon 2006, Premier Cru Chablis 2006, Sechers 2005, Montmains 2005, Vaudesir Grand Cru 2005, and Les Clos Grand Cru 2005.

USA Today: Wine columnist Jerry Shriver recommends Vina Calina Alcance Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, Museum Temparnillo Crianza 2003, Altanuta Pinot Grigio 2007, and Jaboulet 'Parallele 45' Cotes du Rhone 2006.

Focus is on wines recently winning awards, with mentions for dozens of these, including wines from Michael-David Winery, Conti Estate, Grace Patriot Wines, Lava Cap, Deaver Vineyard, Montevina, Sobon Estate, and Mount Aukum Winery.

Nice comments for La Caravelle Premier Cru Brut, Pol Roger Brut 1998, Champagne Henriot Cuvee des Enchanteleurs 1995 (and Henriot Brut Millesime 1996), Mumm Cuvee R. Lalou 1998, Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs Brut 2005, Lucien Albrecht Blanc de Blancs Brut, and Banrock Station Sparkling Chardonnay. Houston Chronicle: Wine columnist Dale Robertson on ingredient labeling of wine. Focus is on Bonny Doon, with examples of Ca' del Solo Albarino 2007 (and Muscat 2007) cited. Also, recommendation from local wine expert for Leone d'Almerita.
