In the Boston Globe, Stephen Meuse offers a very eclectic collection of red wines for cold weather enjoyment. And back in New York, Eric Asimov of the New York Times pairs red wines with oysters and lives to tell the tale.  John Gillespie

Overall experience was disappointing, but nice mentions for severl wines, including Paul Achs Blaufrankisch 'Edelgrund' 2005, Rolly Gassmann Gewurztraminer 'Oberer Weingarten de Rorschwihr' 2004, and Lange Pinot Noir 2006.

Business Week: Wine critic Robert Parker on the wines of Quilceda Creek. Highest possible praise for the 2002 and 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Bloomberg News Service: Wine columnist Elin McCoy profiles Gordon Holmes and his Lookout Ridge Winery. Focus is on Holmes' charitable efforts, but nice comments for the Greg La Follette Pinot Noir 2006, the Marco DiGiulio Cabernet 2005, and the Gerhard Reisacher Cabernet 2005.

San Francisco Chronicle: Staff writer Amanda Gold on a wine pairing challeng taken up by a group of San Francisco sommeliers. Best mentions are for Domaines des Coteaux des Travers Cuvee Prestige Rasteau 2005, and Domaine Deletang Montlouis Sur Loire 2002.

Sacramento Bee: Wine columnist Mike Dunne on Vermentino wines in California. Recommendations for offerings from Tablas Creek, Indian Rock Vineyards, and L'Uvaggio di Giacomo.

San Jose Mercury News: Wine columnist Laurie Daniel on the Clif Bar Family Winery in Napa Valley. Nice comments for 'The Climber' White 2007, 'The Climber' Red 2005, and 'Kit's Killer Cab' Cabernet Sauvignon 2005. Also, tasting notes on Newman's Own Chardonnay 2006, and Cabernet Sauvignon 2006.

San Diego Union Tribune: Wine columnist Robert Whitley on stemware. In tasting notes, high rating for Angelini Tuttobene 2006.

Washington Post: Wine writers Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg on the wines of Vietti in Italy. Top choices are Vietti Barbera d'Asti 'Tre Vigne' 2004 (and 2005), and Cascinetta Vietti Moscato d'Asti 2006 (and 2007).

Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Wine writer Gil Kulers has nice comments for Torres Mas Borras Pinot Noir 2004, from the Penedes region of Spain.

Arizona Republic: Wine columnist Mark Tarbell offers tasting notes on wines for celebrating the leap year. Highest rating goes to Saint Clair 'Vicar's Choice' Sauvignon Blanc 2007.
