Phelps sells stake in Taken Wine

St. Helena, Calif.—After co-launching and managing Taken Wine Company, which produced a series of brands targeted at younger consumers, Napa vintner Josh Phelps announced he is selling his stake in the firm to found a new wine company. Phelps sold his interest in Taken Wine Co. to Trinchero Family Estates, the company that produced the brand, according to a press release. 

Phelps is a St. Helena native and grew up in the wine business. His father, Chris Phelps, is a winemaker who began his career in Bordeaux and spent years at Dominus, Caymus and other Napa Valley wineries. Chris Phelps now makes his own wine, Ad Vivum, and is consulting winemaker to other clients. Josh Phelps intends to continue to produce wines under the guidance of his father for the new business based in St. Helena.
