Santa Barbara, Calif.—Vintner Daniel Green has purchased Jaffurs Wine Cellars. Founded by Craig and Lee Jaffurs in 1994, the winery produces around 5,000 cases per year and is focused on Rhône variety wines. The acquisition includes existing inventory, tasting room and winery. Green produces wines under the Conarium label and will be involved with day-to-day operations, but is retaining all current staff and Craig Jeffurs will help with the transition and has a seat on the company’s new board.

“I find as I am getting older that I am not able to take part in some of the aspects of winemaking that I enjoy most,” Jaffurs said in the press release announcing the deal. “My Dad didn’t retire until he was 80 and he was never able to travel and enjoy life. He once told me, ‘don’t miss your chance.’ I am following his advice!”
