Healdsburg, Calif.—Russian River Valley wine producer J Vineyards & Winery on Tuesday announced the acquisition of two vineyards in the Sonoma Coast AVA, boosting the brand’s number of estate vineyards to 10. Fruit from the two vineyards will go toward the label’s Pinot Noir program (the label is also well-known for its sparkling wines).

“We are excited to create expressive Pinot Noirs from this amazing coastal site. Having worked with Annapolis vineyards in the past, I have always been intrigued by the mix of coastal influence and California sunshine on the fruit.” said winemaker Melissa Stackhouse.

The new properties include 44 planted vineyard acres—the brand’s first outside the Russian River Valley AVA—planted primarily to Dijon clones of Pinot Noir.
