Kenwood, Calif.—VJB Vineyards & Cellars announced its purchase of nearby Sonoma Valley winery Wellington Vineyards. The purchase includes the winery and 21 acres of vineyards. Founder Peter Wellington will continue to run the tasting room at Wellington Vineyards and retain his existing inventory as part of a two-year lease agreement, according to a statement released by VJB Vineyards.

Founded in 2003, VJB Vineyards & Cellars is owned by Vittorio Belmonte and his son Henry Belmonte. The Belmontes plan to use the Wellington Vineyards winery to launch a Bordeaux blend as well as single-vineyard Zinfandels sold direct-to-consumer under the Wellington label. VJB will also move all of its winemaking from a location in Santa Rosa, Calif., to the Wellington Vineyards winery.
