LPGA professional golfer Natalie Gulbis chips novelty golf balls into the crowd to raise excitement for a Napa Valley Vintners lot that featured 18 magnums, VIP passes to the U.S. Open and two rounds for four at Pebble Beach courses. The lot was the top individual lot, selling for $1 million.

St. Helena, Calif.—The 38th annual Napa Valley Vintners' (NVV) charity Auction Napa Valley raised more than $13.6 million on June 2 at Meadowood Napa Valley restort.

The top ten lots of the NVV's barrel auction, which proceeded a day before the live auction at Charles Krug winery, sold for more than $500,000 combined. The top barrel was donated by VGS Chateau Potelle Winery in St. Helena and sold for $114,300. The barrel auction featured 110 lots.

Proceeds from the barrel and live auctions are donated to a host of community service groups focused on child services and health care throughout Napa Valley.

“We were thrilled to share everything we love and have experienced throughout our lives in the beautiful Napa Valley,” said one of the event's honoary chairs, Angelina Mondavi, in a statement released by the NVV. “My sisters and I are so grateful for the generosity of our vintners, bidders and community. … And the icing on the cake was that, along with our guests, we had the time of our lives at this year’s Auction Napa Valley!”

Angelina Mondavi and her sisters Alycia, Riana and Giovanna — of the Peter Mondavi Sr. family — were the honorary chairs of the event and the youngest since its inception in 1981, according to the NVV.

Other moments noted by the NVV included:

• Vintner Samantha Rudd of Rudd Oakville Estate and daughter of the late Leslie Rudd announcing a $1 million contribution from the Rudd Foundation.

• Lot 11, which featured four 6-liter Imperials of Opus One wine and the opportunity for two couples to attend a masked ball at Versailles palace, was doubled and sold for $1.4 million.

• A $1 million successful bid for Lot 20, donated by the Napa Valley Vintners and Lexus, featuring 18 bottles of Napa Valley wine and a VIP experience at the 2019 U.S. Open Golf Tournament at Pebble Beach.
