Brock Institute receives funding for mediated reality research

St. Catharines, Ontario—Brock University’s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute announced it is set to receive nearly $1 million (Canadian) in funds to construct a first of its kind mediated-reality wine laboratory. The grant, funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation, will recreate sensory details to help researchers study factors that impact consumer behavior and, in turn, help the wine industry better market their wines to consumers. The institute describes its planned augmented reality, virtual reality and sensory reality consumer laboratory, to be known as R3CL, will be able to create a variety of environments in which people purchase and consume wines.
