Napa, Calif.—Trevor Durling is the new general manager and chief winemaker for Beaulieu Vineyard (BV) and is just the fifth winemaker for the Napa Valley estate founded in 1900. Prior to taking the post at BV, Durling was the winemaker for Provenance and Hewitt. BV, Provenance and Hewitt are all now part of Treasury Wine Estates since its acquisition of the Diageo wine group in 2015. Jeffrey Stambor, who joined BV in 1989 and has led the winery for nearly three decades, is leaving but will serve as brand ambassador for the next few months. In the press release announcing the change, Stambor is quoted as saying he “could not imagine leaving Beaulieu Vineyard in better hands.”

Durling, a Sonoma County native, graduated from the University of California, Davis after studying viticulture and enology. He worked harvests at Sonoma-Cutrer in the Russian River Valley and at Gloria Ferrer before joining organic producer Moon Mountain Vineyard in Sonoma Valley, where he focused on Bordeaux variety wines. He joined Provenance founding winemaker Tom Rinaldi in 2010, crafting wines from throughout Napa Valley. Upon Rinaldi’s retirement, Durling was appointed chief winemaker at Hewitt and Provenance in 2015.
