St. Helena, Calif.—James Revie was promoted to the post of assistant winemaker at Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery. Revie will work alongside Spottswoode’s vineyard manager and winemaker Aron Weinkauf to oversee management of the estate vineyards and winemaking.

Revie is a native of Australia, and began his career in the vineyards of the Margaret River region. After earning a degree in viticulture and enology from Curtin University, Revie joined the team at Margaret River’s family-owned Voyager Estate Winery. During his six years at Voyager Estate, Revie worked extensively with Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc in his position as laboratory manager and enologist. In 2012, Voyager Estate sponsored him to work a Northern Hemisphere harvest at Napa Valley’s Spottswoode and Araujo wineries. In late 2014, Revie rejoined the Spottswoode winemaking team. Revie assumes the role of assistant winemaker from Landon Donley, who left to become the winemaker at Napa Valley’s Titus Vineyards, under director of winemaking Phillip Titus.
