Napa, Calif.—Wine companies continue to donate money to assist the victims of the Northern California wildfires in October. Duckhorn Wine Company donated $300,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County, Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards donated $50,000 to the Redwood Credit Union North Bay Fire Relief Fund, Truett Hurst raised $16,400, Fantesca Estate & Winery donated $10,000 and Free Flow Wines and Luna Vineyards raised $8,000 for the Napa Valley Community Foundation.

Duckhorn had sought to raise $250,000 but the company’s pledge to donate 100% of all tasting room fees from Duckhorn Vineyards, Paraduxx and Goldeneye as well as employee donations and contributions by parent company TSG Consumer Partners pushed the total higher. “Even before the fires, housing was the single-most critical need in our community,” said Duckhorn Wine Company President and CEO Alex Ryan in a statement. “Now with more than 6,000 homes lost throughout wine country, this need is more urgent than ever before. We wanted to make a real difference in the lives of those most affected by the fires while also addressing the important issue of affordable housing so we set a lofty fundraising goal. The response has been overwhelming, and thanks to the kindness and generosity of so many, we far surpassed that goal.”

Gloria Ferrer also donated 100% of all tasting room fees, one dollar from every bottle purchased at the tasting room, online or by phone and Freixenet USA matched employee donations by a 2:1 margin. “When everyone comes together for a common cause, it demonstrates just how strong we all can be,” said Freixenet USA President Tom Burnet in a press release.

More than 650 people attended Truet Hurst’s tenth anniversary celebration on Oct. 28, which the company turned into a fundraising for fire victims. The event raised $16,400, which the company donated to the North Bay Fire Relief Fund. “We wanted to do something to help immediately, so we shifted our event’s focus to supporting the community,” said Phil Hurst, CEO, and co-founder of Truett Hurst in a statement. “The fires were not quite at 100% containment but attendance was strong. We were very touched by how many guests came from out of town to support Sonoma County and listen to locals’ stories. It was the most gratifying Saturday event ever. An unexpected but meaningful way to mark a major Truett Hurst milestone.”

Fantesca Estate & Winery pledged to donate 25% of sales from its 2014 All Great Things 'Hope' red blend and raised $5,000, which was matched by winery owner Susan Hoff. The winery donated $10,000 to the Napa Valley Community Foundation. "To experience first hand the way our community has come together following this devastation is nothing short of remarkable," Hoff said. "We're proud to support the Napa Valley Community Foundation and their ability to help several thousand families that have been impacted in recent weeks. Our goal now is to continue to be active members in our community and exemplify the Napa Spirit."

Wine kegging provide Free Flow Wines held a fundraiser with Luna Vineyards in Napa Valley on Dec. 3. From ticket proceeds, a silent auction and wine purchases the event raised $8,000 and Luna Vineyards will donate 10% of all bottle sales through the end of the year in the hopes of raising the total to $10,000
