Sebastopol, Calif.—Kosta Browne Winery announced its purchase of Cerise Vineyards in Anderson Valley from Peter and Heidi Knez. The deal marks Kosta Browne’s first acquisition outside of Sonoma County.

The Kosta Browne portfolio of estate vineyards now includes Keefer Ranch in the Russian River Valley and Cerise Vineyards, which is comprised of the Cerise, Demuth and Knez vineyards. Located above the town of Boonville, Calif., in Mendocino County at approximately 1,000 feet above sea-level, Cerise Vineyards includes 60 acres of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and has produced wine grapes since the 1980s.

“This is an extraordinarily exciting next step for us as we approach our 20th vintage,” said Michael Browne, co-founder of Kosta Browne Winery in the press release announcing the purchase, “and marks a significant expansion of our estate holdings, giving us the opportunity to apply our winemaking approach to a distinctive and highly regarded terroir outside of Sonoma County.”
