Nice, Calif.—Jim Fetzer announced his decision to retire as well as the closure of his family’s Ceago Vinegarden winery on the shores of Clear Lake in Lake County. Fetzer made the announcement in a statement that was posted to the winery’s website earlier this month. “The fruition of Ceago’s success has now given me the gift of retirement and the opportunity to change my focus,” he said.

Fetzer’s son Barney will continue to manage the family’s vineyards, which Fetzer said will supply wineries throughout the region. The winery’s tasting room will be open until Sept. 14 selling the remainder of the winery’s inventory.
